A division of Rydale Roofing ltd

Have you ever considered generating your own electricity from your own roof?

Rydale Solar can design, supply and fit a complete Solar Photovoltaic system that will enable you to benefit from the Governments very generous Feed in Tariff

Benefits of installing a solar PVsystem

There are a range of benefits from solar PV panels which include:

There is an initial outlay in the form of installation costs but once the panels have been fitted you will more than recoup that outlay. You don’t pay for sunlight so you will notice a reduction in your bills once the system has been installed.

This is particularly important when you consider the spiralling costs of electricity and other utilities at the moment. This is an affordable, eco-friendly alternative which will save you money.

According to the Energy Saving Trust, a home PV system can produce 40% of the electricity that household uses in a year.

Suitability for solarphotovoltaic (PV) panels

Many domestic and commercial properties are suitable for solar PV panels. Our dedicated team of solar panel installers will discuss this with you as well as deciding if your property is suitable.

What is important is that a property has a strong roof in order to support the weight of the solar panels. It also needs to be facing the sun or not in the shadow of other buildings or trees. If it is then this will reduce the amount of sunlight to the cells which then reduces the amount of electricity generated.

Do I need planning permission? Most domestic properties are fine for home solar PV panel systems – as long as these systems are within a certain size. But if you are unsure then contact your local planning office.

This varies from one property to another. We carry out a FREE home/site visit to assess the suitability for solar panels before producing a quote.

The quote will depend upon several factors such the size of the roof, the position of the property in regard to natural sunlight and other similar criteria.

The importance of going green

Solar energy is part of a green initiative in which we all encouraged to use natural sources of heating and electricity as well as reducing our carbon footprint. The aim is for all of us to be ‘environmentally friendly’ instead of continuing to consume the Earth’s resources at an uncontrollable rate.

Solar energy is one answer to the issue of our reliance on fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas.

Solar Photovoltaic (PV) panels

These panels consist of a series of cells which are produced from silicon, a naturally occurring substance found in the earth. These cells are joined together and when in contact with sunlight, produce an electric current or ‘direct current’ (DC) which runs household devices.

Each cell is measured in kilowatt peak (kWp) which is a measure of the amount of energy produced from natural sunlight.

Solar PV panels are able to produce electricity on a cloudy day: they react to daylight in a similar way as with sunlight although they produce a smaller amount of electricity.

The stronger the sunlight the greater the amount of electricity produced.

These panels are available in a range of shapes and sizes which includes grey solar tiles which look similar to ordinary roof tiles and transparent cells which can be fitted to a conservatory.
